Maintenance guide
The frequency of cleaning depends on the type of paint, the environment and the concentrations of dirt on the surface. The more frequent the cleaning, the easier and more economical it is.
Routine maintenance of powder-coated woodwork consists of a simple wash with water and a mild detergent.
Regular maintenance
- Wash with water and a mild detergent (pH between 5 and 8)
- Careful rinsing with clear water
- Wipe with a soft, non-abrasive, absorbent cloth
Do not damage, abrade, scratch, discolor or stain the paint layer.
Cleaning frequencies
High traffic areas (building entrances, storefronts…) : Frequent cleaning (every 3 to 6 months)
Urban, industrial and marine areas : Semi-annual cleaning
Rural or sparsely populated urban area : Annual cleaning
Caution: The cleaning of parts not naturally washed by rainwater must be done more frequently than the cleaning of exposed surfaces.
Recommended products
- Household or industrial cleaners with neutral pH
- pH neutral glass and dishwashing products
Not recommended products
- Acids :Acetic (vinegar) – Hydrochloric – Nitric – Sulfuric
- Bases : Soda lye – Bleach – Ammonia
- Oxidants : Hydrogen peroxide
- Organic solvents : Acetone and derivatives (solvents) – Alcohols (household, methylated spirits, medical), isopropanol – Gasoline and other petroleum distillates: white spirit, diesel, gasoline – Mastic cleaners and tar removers (methyl acetate) – Anti-graffiti products: solvents such as derivatives of propylene glycol or turpentine and their mixtures – Workshop cleaners for aluminum or PVC: surfactants and alcohol
- Scrubbing powders and creams : Polish for automotive or powder coating renovation
How to maintain anodized aluminum?
To maintain the aesthetic qualities of anodized aluminum, regular maintenance is strongly recommended.
Aluminum and its alloys used in the building industry have, by themselves, a very good resistance to weather and environments, even severe. The anodization gives them an additional protection of the most effective.
The frequency of cleaning depends on the environment and the concentrations of dirt on the surface. The more frequent the cleaning, the easier and more economical it is.
Regular maintenance
The routine maintenance of anodized woodwork consists of :
- A simple wash with water and a mild detergent (pH between 5 and 8)
- Followed by a thorough rinse with clean water
- Wiping with a soft, absorbent cloth
This operation can be combined with the cleaning of the windows.
Frequency of cleaning
In rural or sparsely populated urban areas, where the environment does not contain aggressive elements, the frequency of maintenance is annual.
In urban, industrial or marine environments, surfaces exposed to rain ideally require semi-annual maintenance.
Cleaning of areas not naturally washed by rainwater should be done more frequently than for exposed surfaces. In high traffic areas (building entrances, storefronts, etc.), cleaning can be done more frequently.
Cleaning methods
Regularly maintained surfaces
- Wash with water and a wetting agent (pH between 5 and 8)
- Careful rinsing with clear water
- Wiping with a soft, absorbent cloth
Moderately dirty surfaces
- Washing with water and a cleaning product that cleans and shines
- Careful rinsing with clear water
- Wiping with a soft, absorbent cloth
Heavily soiled surfaces : contact a specialized company
Comments :
- It is essential to avoid the use of very aggressive products, such as certain detergents for dishwashers and laundry as well as alkaline or acid products.
- If work has caused dirt deposits on aluminum surfaces, careful maintenance is necessary, especially on areas not naturally washed by rain.
